The Bridge Yard project, located near the Bay Bridge toll plaza, recently received the ASCE SF Section Award for Outstanding Historic Renovation during their recent 2017 Annual Meeting.
Gregory Baker, Project Architect with HNTB will discuss the history, the restoration, and the future use of the building used as a train shed for the Key System Railway until the railway across the Bay Bridge was abandoned in 1950. The building at 210 Burma Road in West Oakland has won a current award from the East Bay AIA, and the project will be the hub of the future Gateway Park in the East Bay Regional Park District. The shoreline park has planned beaches,
meadows, convenient access to the Bay Bridge Trail, and expansive views of the Bay.
Gregory Baker AIA practices Architecture at HNTB in Los Angeles. Mr. Baker has more than 30 years of experience on educational, public, private, and institutional projects, including a Convention Center in New Mexico, Student Housing at UCLA, a Performing Arts school at Notre Dame University, and the J. Paul Getty Center in Brentwood, CA.
His most recent project is the renovation of the Bridge Yard in Oakland, CA. He balances both design and technical roles on all his projects, and his primary focus is the transformation of design concepts into built form.
